lawmakers on capitol hill face new pressure from president obama over extending the payroll tax cut for millions of americans. during the stop in new hampshire yesterday, mr. obama urged republicans not to be a grinch during the holiday season by raising taxes on middle-class americans. if the tax cut does go away. the average family would pay $1 million more in taxes starting next year. eight republican presidential candidates wrapped up a debate. here is a look at the highlights all un60 second. >> i'm mitt romney, yes, wolf that's my first name. >> no, blitz that is oversimplifying here. since we are on a blitz debate. >> tool of war being used in america and around the world is terror. >> the government should have many more tools inned or tire save our lives. >> you can provide security without sacrificing our bill of rights. >> try to find the balancing act between individual liberties and security.

some good news for women who are enjoying a cup of joe right now. the coffee could help you fight cancer. who knew? >> big news. new research shows that drinking coffee long term may reduce the risk of a common cancer. abc's dr. tim johnson reports. >> reporter: cancer, the most common form of cancer of the uterus. the national cancer institute says more than 46,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year in the u.s. and more than 8,000 women will die from the disease. now a study un"the journal" cancer epidemiology biomarkers and prevention, find that long term coffee consumption may be associated with a reduced risk for endometrial cancer.

it says coffee is emerging as protective agent in cancers linked to estrogen and insulin. drinking more than four cups, cut the risk of the cancer by 25%, compared to those who drank less than one cup per day. scientists site coffee's antioxidant properties rather than caffeine as the healthful component. obviously too much caffeine can cause trouble for some. adding a lot of sugar and cream may offset poe fen shatential b. i'm dr. timothy johnson. >> you have to drink four cups, that has negative health impact drinking that much. >> if you drink tea it doesn't help. when we come back, tim laird is with us to share thanksgiving recipes. stay with us.

get something, 8 and 10 pound. always so delicious. first thing i do i put in a lot of garlic. i think garlic is very important. you spread it around. you cannot make this without adobo. >> very true, mom. >> think you should be liberal with it actually. gives it so much of the flavor. >> yeah. >> you put some down in the dish. because as you saute it while it is cooking and baste it while it is cooking that will gift more flavor. the other thing that i usually use is a goya product, sazon, gives the meat a great flavor, and gives it a really wonderful. >> flavor, the flavor is very important in this recipe. >> yes. the other thing that i used as well is i use extra virgin olive oil. any kind of olive oil. i look to cook with extra virgin. add a little something to it. the other thing. i do is --

save me some too. >> more than a dozen people went to the hospital late last night following an accident involving several vehicles in maryland. when it was over a school bus carrying a girl's high school team crashed in a wooded area. a car and pickup truck were also involved. the driver of the truck arrested driving under the influence. emotional night of remembrance in joplin, missouri. six months after an ef-5 tornado flattened thousands of homes, all most wiping the community off the map. hundreds gathered for a memorial service in honor of 161 people killed in the tragedy. a plaque unveiled with their names and the city plans to plant a tree for each of the lives lost. the mayor commended everyone for not losing hope. and a somber moment in dallas yesterday, as city remembered the day president kennedy was shot 48 years ago. dallas police used the occasion to honor a man they say helped them capture presidential assassin lee harvey oswald.
